Revision as of 08:01, 1 July 2009

This guide was written by referring to previous hostile situations on the World of Legends as well as the Genesis server.

NB It has been said (hasn't been checked) that the hostile meter on WoL and Genesis differ in terms of points required to declare war.

Significance of the Hostile Meter

For two kingdoms to gain the ability to declare war on one another, two conditions have to be met.

 1. The kingdoms must be at least unfriendly on one side and hostile on the other.
 2. The hostile meter must not be maxed out.

If these two conditions are met, the kingdom which has the lower hostile meter will than receive the option to declare war.

Attacks and How they Move the Meter

Different successful attack types add to the hostile meter at varying levels of intensity. In Normal Stance, the attacks add to the meter according to the figures given below. In Aggressive Stance, attacks add twice as much to the meter (e.g. a Traditional March in Aggressive would add 2 points to the meter, as opposed to 1 point in normal stance).

Traditional Marches

Traditional Marches add 1 point to the hostile meter per hit.

Razes, Plunders & Learns

Razes/Plunders and Learns add 0.5 points to the meter per hit.

Massacres

To my knowledge, Massacres add 0.5 points per hit.

 • This figure has been disputed, with some saying they add 0.7 points to the meter per hit.

Bounces & Conquests

Bounces and Conquests add a different number of points to the meter.

For example, a true bounce (due to minor miscalculation) would add almost close to a point to the meter. On the other hand, a fog check bounce would add a negligible number of points (<0.5) to the meter.

It is also proposed that the hostile meter moves as a function of offense sent in conquests however there is no hard evidence that I have been able to come up with to prove this.

Declaring War

When a party hits up to 7.5 points they become hostile to the kingdom which they hit. Unfriendly status requires 3.5 points to achieve.

At each day change, both hostile meters decay by 14 - 15% or 1 point, whichever is greater.

Example: Declaration
Kingdom Clarey hits Kingdom Bishop with 7 traditional marches and 5 plunders in Normal stance (9.5 points). Kingdom Bishop hits
Kingdom Clarey in return with 3 plunders in Aggressive stance (1.5*3 = 4.5 points). In this situation, Kingdom Bishop may declare
war on Kingdom Clarey.
When the Utopian month changes from 24th to the 1st, 1 point decays from both meters, making it 8.5 (Clarey) to 2 (Bishop). At this point, War cannot be declared but Bishop has the ability to use unfriendly ops on Clarey such as Meteor Showers, Incite Riots, and cast Fireballs. Clarey is unable to conduct unfriendly ops against Bishop.

Example 1: Maxing the Meter
So Y's big brother is unhappy with X and comes alone. His kingdom A sends 25 traditional marches into X, in aggressive stance (25*2 = 50 points). Kingdom X decides to forgo Kingdom Y. So Kingdom X switches to aggressive stance and retals Kingdom A with 25 traditional marches in Aggressive, on the same day. This means the hostile meter is at 50 points to 50 points
• unfr: wider range of ops
 • hostile: less mana and stealth consumption, conq range drops(????? check this)
