What is IRC?
IRC is an acronym for Internet Relay Chat. IRC was developed by Jarkko "WiZ" Oikarinen at the University of Oulu, in Finland. IRC is the oldest chat protocol in wide use today. The first IRC network, IRCNet, spawned Eris Free Net (EfNet), which led to thousands of other networks. IRC is an effective way of communicating with people anywhere on the globe.
Why IRC?
- Real time interaction.
- Streamlined organization - ability to employ bots to store all attacks and self spells + ops in war. This enables council members and the Monarch to communicate in real time to formulate a 24/7 war strategy if required.
- Group conversations, Ability to make kingdom announcements.
- Improved communication with others in the community.
- Your learning of the game improves exponentially, by discussing with others and learning off (or improving on) other people's playstyles. This is especially true on UtoNet.
- You choose what level of personal information you are comfortable with giving out. Don't want to give out your personal MSN? Then IRC is the way for you, since you are not required to pass out your personal MSN address!
Do However practise caution. Don't accept unsolicited files from people you do not know. Also ensure you read up on Net Safety.
